Tangerang (iatca-jakarta.or.id) - There is something special on IATCA’s 23^rd Anniversary Celebration on July 2022. As usual, an anniversary celebration generally held by various competition in order to add values of the celebration itself. Those competitions purpose is to increase the skill or ability and also to find out some potential power of the member of IATCA. One of the competition is IATCA English Debate Competition for all IATCA Branch member all over Indonesia. For the first time, this event held in IATCA Anniversary Celebration which could be the most interesting competition so far.

DPC IATCA Jakarta as the biggest branch members in IATCA absolutely takes part in this anniversary celebration event especially English debate competition. At that time, DPC IATCA Jakarta English Debate Team was not established yet and planned to follow this event. The Team was arranged by Mr Yudha Abimanyu as a Chief of Professionalism of DPC IATCA Jakarta. Next we called him “Our Beloved Pakasie”. He gave us clear direction in following this event and bring up the name of DPC IATCA Jakarta. He was very optimism that this English Debate Team is the best team, thus the optimism vibes flowing to the team.

Actually English Debate is not something new for all of this team member. All of them were former English debate speaker on school. But it was many years ago. So, the team felt almost nothing to worry about in uniting the vision as a teammate. As a former speaker something to be concerned is the latest rules of English debate that they were not updated before either Asia Parliamentary Format, British Parliamentary Format or other English debate format. That is the reason why they have to meet each other to have the same perspective regarding this event.

The first meeting for technical meeting was held via zoom online on July 4^th 2022. Honestly, until that time the team is still not established yet and you know what the match is about 7 days left! So, starting from that point we planned to meet each other offline, again in order to have same perception and fix the team position. Another drama that happened on that day was we planned to quit together, sound so funny. But wait, are you serious? After we followed the technical meeting then we back off is not a wise choice. After the zoom meeting ended, the team made a call for decide what would they do. They called each other for about 1 hours and decided to commitment on what we called we fight till the end or nothing at all.

After that moment, the team decided that meeting offline between teammate was a mandatory. Again, to have the same perspective on this event. Actually it was hard to make the same perception on the first chance because all of them were speaker, surely they would have their own perception already. They had their own experience and they had great battle on their past before. They were veteran! All of them were the champion and also delegation of their school. Can you imagine how hard it is?

Something amazing was happened on July 9^th 2022. That was first the day they meet offline each other. After had some cup of coffee they started to share their ideas and experience. It was flowing as it was and it was not as scary as their imagination. They have the same perception easily on bringing up the name of DPC IATCA Jakarta, the place where they were standing at. Thus they made decision for fixing up the speaker position, again easily. They also had the same perception on fighting until the end. For one great name DPC IATCA Jakarta, as our “Pakasie” order before. Salute to you all!

 One of the important decision they have been made on July 9^th 2022 was finalizing the position of speaker. After all of the team member met each other on that day, they started to share their experience in English Debate concept. They discussed about the motion they ever met, they former teammates, their winning experience, and so on. They also shared their characteristic in speech while speaking on the contest. It is very important aspect to established the chemistry between them all before their become a teammate.

Sharing their point of view on one motion was a clue of positioning someone in form of speaker of an English Debate Team. It was very amazing moment when they identified themselves with natural chemistry they have been made by only one single time meeting. What an amazing team! So they decided that the first speaker was Agit Prasetiyo, the second speaker was Adri Gustibela, and the third speaker was Tubagus Hardika.

The first speaker for DPC IATCA Jakarta English Debate Team was Agit Prasetiyo. He was born in Jakarta September 2^nd 1991 and actually he was the oldest among all team member. His educational background was Bachelor of Economy and Magister of Transportation Management. He was from ACC Jakarta Division with more than 7 years’ experience of controlling the aircraft on Jakarta ACC and 3 years’ experience controlling the aircraft on Medan APP. His position at school was 1^st Speaker.

The Second speaker was Adri Gustibela. She was born in Tangerang exactly one day after our beloved Indonesia Independent day August 18^th 1992. Her educational backgorund was Bachelor of Arts especially English. She is also the delegation of Indonesia especially ACC Jakarta in some ICAO Regional Meeting a few days ago. Her specialized was in English. She was also involved in almost all English event either on DPC IATCA Jakarta and also Airnav branch JATSC. Her position in 2^nd speaker of this English Debate Team was very important because as the 2^nd speaker she has deeper and wider perspective in every motions and delivering it in an amazing way to the audience.

The third speaker was Tubagus Hardika. He was born in Lhokseumawe exactly the same date with Indonesia independent day August 17^th 1996. He was the youngest among the team member. He was the brilliant 3^rd speaker because he had to connect all of the teammate’s argument and find the clash point of the opposition team. Sometimes he just need time to break then after gave the team solution or brand new idea to ice breaking. So they found a new point to continue flowing. He was the most enthusiast’s speaker among the team. Great young blood, young brother!

The first match was held on July 12^th 2022 by online Zoom Meeting. First match opposition was DPC IATCA Palu. A day before the match, the team decided to did minor research regarding the motion. The motion theme at that time was the relocation of Jakarta the capital of Indonesia. Those research was planned to presented via online meeting but due technical reason the team finally decided to be discussed via voice call only. First discussion was to determine what is the background of the motion. This was important to be able identify what is the team line of this team regarding the motion. After several minutes’ discussion the team decided that the team line for this motion is the urgency of the relocation Jakarta the capital of Indonesia.

The relocation of Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia was a great motion for us. This motion has strong recommendation either as the affirmative team or negative team. Both sides have strong background to be discussed and debatable perspective. If we stand as affirmative sides, we have to be able to ascertain the adjudicator why Jakarta needed to be relocate in connection with our team line as the urgency it selves. On the other hand, if we stand as negative sides, we have to ascertain the adjudicator regarding the urgency to relocate Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia.

The team line was very important aspect in constructing an argument. Its function was as an anchor of thinking or basic ground on how the argument will deliver. It was also the assessment factor regarding the consistency of the point of view that will be deliver. That was the reason why the team mostly spend much time only on discussing and decided on the team line.

The match versus DPC IATCA Palu was very interesting. DPC IATCA Palu delivered a great argument as the affirmative side, on the other hand DPC IATCA Jakarta stands as negative side with the team line there is no urgency to relocate Jakarta as the capital of Indonesia. Every argument was defeated by the opposition argument and every POI or question was responded in a correct manner, in order to made this event more and more attractive. And the match would always remain the victory and defeated for every participant. For the first time, DPC IATCA Jakarta English Debate Team got a victory, which lead to next step called semi-final.

DPC IATCA Palu fought as a warrior. They were consisting of 2 best speakers. They support each other argument. They delivered their argument enthusiastically. And the most important thing was they were brave to speak up, to ascertain, and to speech in front of the people that watched them on IATCA TV. What a great achievement! At the end of the battle, remember our messages that WE LOVE YOU PALU! Best regards from your brother, Jakarta!

The second match was semi-final match with DPC IATCA Balikpapan. We learnt a lot from DPC IATCA Balikpapan that they always strong on research literature. Their research paper was everywhere and constructive. They understood well on how to do a scientific research as a basic argument and put it in a speech. That was really cool!

This semi-final match motion was regarding aptitude test for the admission in ATC Training. Honestly, the team was already stacked to find out the team line. They felt a lot of consideration that burden their psychology in discussing this motion. First, they tried hard to define the aptitude test itself. They tried to find out the element of aptitude test from the 3 aspect of human intelligent factor such as Emotional Quotients, Intelligent Quotients and Spiritual Quotient. The more research on each element they did, the more complicated red line they found at that time.

After for about 3-4 hours’ discussion, they decided to take a break. They planned to called each other at night to discuss the motion. Besides, they have to do their routine activities as an ATC. Another team member also needed to do something for their family. Their decision at that time actually was a good decision. Because when you push too hard on thinking of something, you did some research, and discuss it to your team but all of you guys feel stuck, all you need was just take a break. It was important because after you take a break then the new inspiration will come out to give new ideas. And it was happened to this team.

At around 20.00 WIB they made a call. The first thing they discussed about was they found no red line of the main element of human intelligent. It was too complicated to be explain in only 7 minutes’ time for speech. They missed perception one another. But the team knew that it was normal in a contest regarding different perception. They prefer to let the friction inside in order to make sharp point of view, but they were solid-rock outside.

Another important thing was they have to be themselves while delivering speech. By being themselves, their will be able to perform maximum. At that time, finally for the first time after long time discussion, they found the team line if they stand as the negative that aptitude test is not important as admission of ATC Training. Because the skill of ATC is fundamentally being train, design and build on ATC Training Institution. What a hectic day it was!

The Semi-final match was held on July 16^th 2022. A long time discussion last night indirectly impacted their stamina and mental. Some of team member felt exhausted and fatigue. But the show must go on. After the moderator pushed the lucky spin to decide which team was affirmative and negative, their night mare was come through. DPC IATCA Jakarta team was negative side of the house. It means they have to refuse the aptitude test as the requirement as an admission to enter ATC Training Institution.

Their opposite team at that time was DPC IATCA Balikpapan. As we know, they were good in literature study and research. They would have a lot of scientific reason to deliver to us why aptitude test is important. With the same strategy as before, the team would refuse all the argument regarding aptitude test was important. As their prediction before, the opposition team delivered so much reason, literature, and scientific research that aptitude test was important. On the other side, DPC IATCA Jakarta delivered argument that aptitude was no important because the aptitude of an ATC was being made, built, and design on ATC Training Institution.

DPC IATCA Jakarta team was struggling hard to ascertain the adjudicator that aptitude test is not important as an admission as their team line. However, this team felt so pessimism to win the battle. Again due lack of scientific research and data as proof. They felt like it was the end of their game. At least, they fought to the end as they mentioned on first meeting before. They already did their best for the great name of DPC IATCA Jakarta.

The winner of the game was about to announced. They knew what they’ve done and prepare to quit even though it hasn’t announced yet. Surprisingly the adjudicator announced that DPC IATCA Jakarta was the winner! They could not believe on it! Again, they won the game. Defeating the toughest team on research and scientific literature was something they cannot believed, Alhamdulillah. DPC IATCA Balikpapan you were awesome!

The best lesson they learned from the match on Semi-Final was they need more data and scientific literature while delivering the speech. It was mentioned by Miss Veranty and Miss Tary as the adjudicator. And it was the team highlight until now. They need more and more data by research and literature. Thank you very much Madam for the advice. They promised to fix it up.

After winning the Semi-Final, automatically the team would enter Final Round. Another team that they have to worried about were DPC IATCA Makassar and DPC IATCA Kupang. Both team were the great team. They had English Debater or speaker on their side. The team knew it well because some of them ever met on the match while they were on school. Finally the result was announced. The winner was DPC IATCA Kupang. It means, the match on final would be DPC IATCA Jakarta versus DPC IATCA Kupang.

From the first match, the team was refuse to see the battle between other team. The purpose was to avoid mental burden and under or overestimated of the opposition team. They thought it was the best way to keep their mental health clear. Besides, they already exhausted for about one-week battle. But there was something amazing from their opposition on final DPC IATCA Kupang. They were split-screen team! One speaker was on another location. Mean a while, the other 2 persons of the team was on same location. It was amazing for the team! How come they discussed all of the thing with different geographical location and they come up to final! DPC IATCA Kupang you were amazing!

Before the final match, the motion was announced a day before the match. Unfortunately, the motion was hot issue on their company. It was connected with their beloved company plan on joining the AVIATA Holding Company which’s aligned with the ministry of state owned enterprises program in aviation in tourism. Actually it has some benefits if the position was as negative side of the house because the company was not involved. But it was really special challenge if the team was on affirmative side of the house which’s they have to ascertain to the adjudicator and audience that joining the AVIATA Holding Company gave positively impact to the company. And if you remember, this team always be the negative side of the house since the first time battle. Even though it was something unique, they still could not hope they were on negative side, they had to prepare for both affirmative side of the house and also negative side of the house.

Before the final match, they did the same thing called research. As mentioned before that this motion was a hot issue on the company, so they prepared for the best in a very short time before the match less than one day. They chose the hardest side first for research if they were the affirmative side of the house that support the motion. It means Airnav should be a part of AVIATA Holding Company. First they should found the reason why Airnav involved to AVIATA Holding Company. They discussed for almost half day to find out how to stand on affirmative side of the house. They researched on how a holding company manage its daily routine business, how’s the financial aspect, how ‘s the GCG implementation in a holding company and so on. Until they found a topic that it was the momentum for Airnav Indonesia to take contribution for Indonesia as a state-owned enterprise. It was really hard for them but they had to carry on. For the negative side of the house, they focused on data, as the suggestion of adjudicator that they had to strengthen their data. They also focused on how’s the business process of Airnav that not always involved and similar with business process of other company on this AVIATA Holding Company. As usual, after a long time discussion and research they went home at night with some materials to elaborate. Besides, they have to prepare their stamina for the final match tomorrow. 

The final match held on afternoon of July 17^th 2022. But the team came earlier to take some discussion regarding the match. After several minute discussion about the motion they were informed that the CEO of Airnav Indonesia Ms. Polana Banguningsih Pramesti would join the zoom. It was such an honor for the team. They didn’t know the viewer enthusiasm was so high to the final match. It almost distracted their focus at that time because of the sensitive motion. But they tried to stay focus on their point oof view.

The match started after lunch at around 02.00 PM. The atmosphere was so different. They received so much support and spirit from other member of DPC IATCA Jakarta. They also felt high motivated but nor their stamina. It was a long journey to the final. Before the match, each team representative delivered some speech regarding the match. DPC IATCA Kupang stated that all the participant here was actually the winner, just disregard about the result. It was true. All of them were the winner. The win their own battle until reached this point. The climax was when the spinning wheel pointed DPC IATCA Jakarta as the negative side of the house. Even though there was some connection problem on the first chance but finally DPC IATCA Jakarta for the third time of the contest to be the negative side of the house.

The final match was very epic. Each speaker delivered their best argument to ascertain the adjudicator and viewers regarding their point of view. DPC IATCA Jakarta as always delivered POI and constructive argument with “momentum” point of view. DPC IATCA Kupang also delivered their best argument the benefit of joining the AVIATA Holding Company. Besides, both team delivered some POI as a part of debate contest. They kept struggling to stand on their point to ascertain which best argument was logically accepted.

As normal contest, there will always be the winner. The adjudicator finally chose DPC IATCA Jakarta as the winner, Alhamdulillah. The adjudicator also agrees that both team were standing on their perspective. Both team also showed respect to the opponent. Actually the purpose of this contest was achieved on this time. Each participant was involved actively in speaking English as a media to train their English ability. That’s the point. Besides, it was the first experience for the team to win this contest and become the champion. They were so thankful of the achievement. They fought until the end and successfully brought up the great name of DPC IATCA Jakarta. Alhamdulillah.

The next step after they won the game was regenerating the English debate team for DPC IATCA Jakarta. It is a big responsibility for all of the team member and also DPC IATCA Jakarta. The symbolic target is to keep the trophy belongs to DPC IATCA Jakarta. But the vision is not only on that way, but also to keep on train the ability of speaking English as the foreign language. And also as a media to produce young talent in speaking English for international meeting. The contest is just one of the training media but the community has the responsibility to keep it going. That is why, the regeneration is important to maintain the sustainability of this system.

For the teammate, you are all awesome guys! We’re so pleased and honor to brings up the great name of DPC IATCA Jakarta. We also would like to say apologize to all of the participants on 1^st IATCA English Debate Competition if you found any mistakes that we’ve made. All of you are guys the winner. Salute and respect.
